You can skip through to the 1:33 mark and watch him get arrested. This is a friend of mine that got arrested for unauthorized speaking. I thought I would post it here because it lends itself as testimony to a discussion I had on another thread. The police in this case were suppose to PROTECT his right to free speech. They were suppose to protect us against tyrannical government, and not be the enforcement officers for it.
John Bush arrested at University of Texas I'm sure some will dismiss it as just anecdotal evidence, or make the "few bad apples" argument, but it happens all the time, and not just for speaking without the approval of the ruling authority. Campuses around the nation create "speech free zones" and the police enforce these as if they were laws, and arrest people for unauthorized talking. They've created places in America where the people are no longer protected by the Constitution, and then the police arrest people for talking without permission. Sad Wishes, Mister

I hear Phil Bryant is getting the Tea Party all stoked up over a bill he is going to propose. A bill that is fashioned after the Arizona Immigration Bill. I predict that in another 75 years, the police in Mississippi will be stopping people as they leave Walmart, demanding to see their papers, and if their papers aren't in order, they get shipped off to the hoosegow.
What puzzles me, is why the Tea Partys are for this. I mean supposedly the Tea Partys are all about following the Constitution, and the Arizona bill definitely violates our Federal Constitution and it violates our State Constitution. I'm kinda new at this whole Constitutional governance thing, but doesn't the 4th Amendment to the Constitution mention something about the Government searching our houses, persons, places and affects? If memory serves me, it mentions something about a warrant being needed. The Tea Party position on this baffles me: "As long as I dont have to compete for my job with those mexicans, I suppose a few Draconian laws wont be too bad, I mean,....I dont mind violating the Constitution a little bit, as long as I benefit from it" Best Wishes, Mister

I am starting this post by request,...to explain where my limits to liberty are. or to what degree I think people can exercize liberty.
Do I think Marijuana should be decriminilized? youbetcha Do I want it decriminilaized because I smoke it? Nope, I haven't had a toke in over 20 years. Do I want it decriminalized because of consequential reasons, such as lower crime, tax revenue, medicinal purposes etc,...Nope I want it decriminalized because it infringes upon my right to liberty. My right to think and act for myself, My right to make decisions that best benefit me. The question was raised about limits to liberty, or to what extent I support the philosophy of liberty (libertarianism). Well, here goes,....I support the right of the people to stick hypodermical needles into their eyeball. I support the right of people to get tattoos. I support the right of the individual to huff paint. I support the right of the individual to run over his own toe with a bulldozer (if this is physically possible). When it comes to limits on my liberty, or to the degree to which I may excersize my liberty, the threshold is very simple....I can do whatever I want, as long as I am not harming someone else. We Libertarians use a phrase called Force or Fraud. Force or Fraud is murder, rape, theft, extortion, etc. We do not believe in the intitiation of force or fraud by ANYONE. Do not mistake this to mean we are pacifists, because we are not. If you gore my Ox, I will gore your Ox right back, We just dont believe in the INITITATION of Force or Fraud. As a matter of fact, the whole reason a Government is formed (a social contract) is so that we have a protection mechanism (or avenue for redress) if someone commits force or fraud upon us. It's the REASON government exists. So, do I support the right of someone to make a snuff film or child pornograhpy? Well, lets look at it. Is someone committing force or fraud on someone? Yes, the children or the victim of the snuff film. So Government has a role in protecting those people against that. Government is suppose to protect those people from Force or Fraud. It's against the law, because someone is being harmed. As it should be If someone smokes pot, snorts coke, injects herion, smokes meth, sticks themself in the eye with a hypodermic needle, or runs over their toe with a bulldozer, is someone comitting force or fraud on someone? No. If someone robs a gas station to pay for their meth, is someone committing force or fraud? Youbetcha If someone is all hopped up on Goofenthal, and they wreck their car into a school yard, did someone commit force or fraud? Youbetcha If someone is NOT all hopped up on Goofenthal and they wreck thier car into a school yard, did someone commit force or fraud. Yes (property damage is also force or fraud) As you can see (I've said it a trillion times),.....people are free to do whatever they please, as long as they do not interfere with the right of others to do whatever THEY please (where no force or fraud is being committed). It is for this reason, that I am a student of Austrian economics, and it is why I am for the decriminalzation of marijuana. I think things that contain force or fraud should be illegal (think about how the government takes your money against your will, or how they use the power of the gun (and badge) to make us do things we dont want to do). I ask you,...who is committing force or fraud on who????? All laws are enforced at the point of a gun. If you get a seatbelt ticket (have you harmed anyone?) and you refuse to pay it, they will fine you for contempt of court. If you refuse to pay that, they will summons you to court (issue an arrest warrant). If you resist the arrest, and the struggle escalates, the police can shoot you. All because you didn't wear a seatbelt. Now I ask you, did you commit force or fraud on anyone when you didn't wear a seatbelt? no. Did the goernment (police, court, etc) committ force or fraud on you by shooting you? Who is committing force or fraud on who????? I am for the decriminalization of marijuana, not because it will lower crime (and it will),.....nor because it will provide much needed tax revenue for the State (which it will),....nor because it has a ton of medicinal uses, (which it does),....but rather I am against this war on drugs, because it is immoral. It is immoral for the Govt (police) to use Force and Fraud (guns and sting operations) when no one has harmed a sole. We have a a gazllion people in jail right now, good people, that have done nothing wrong other than do what they damn well pleased, and harmed no one. Make no mistake, this War on Drugs is not about drugs,....it's about the Government making sure the citizens understand that they CANT do whatever they damn well please (the opposite of liberty). This War on Drugs is about the government trying to establish some sort of control over our lives. They're suppose to be there to protect our liberty (from the Declaration of independence..that to secure these rights, Governments are formed). But instead of protecting our rights (liberty is a right) they are doing their best to use good people in Law enforcement to keep our right to liberty under their thumb (and the War on Drugs is just a game to those ends) There are degrees and limits to liberty, and they are clearly defined,..... The people are free to do as they damn well please, as long as they do not harm anyone else (force or fraud). Our system of governance has morphed since it's inception from being one of a Republic, to that of a Democracy. Tyranny of the majority, and all that crap. Our Government school system has taught our children for generations that America is a democracy, and that the majority prevails. Hmmm,...I wonder why they've been teaching our children that????? I talked to Terry Burton outside of the State House in Jackson a months ago, and he was fixin to vote on the helmet bill that would restrict the liberty of the citizens. He did the typical politiian thing. He looked at me, bit his lp, and said,..."it's for the children". I looked him right in the eye, and said "Terry, do NOT vote our liberty away". But since we have successfully converted our system of governence from a Republic into a Democracy, liberty can now be voted away from people, and all it takes is majority vote. It's a shame I am often asked questions like,...."what is the Libertarian position on,,..." and I interupt them before they can finish, because I already know what the answer is. I always reply with something like "The answer is more Liberty,...now whats the question?" You see, it doesn't matter what the question is, Liberty is the answer. This is something I wish I could get across to our elected officials in Jackson,...."no matter what the problem is, you can solve it with more liberty". Thom and others, I welcome any questions or comments. I will not be offended and I will answer all questions as honestly as I can. Best Wishes, Mister
